“We very much enjoyed the river life walk and the breadth of natural beauty and wildlife encountered.” – Attendee on River Life Walk
This year we are delighted to welcome back renowned naturalist Christine Gregory to lead a River Life Walk in Haddon Medieval Park. Christine is the author of four books about the Derbyshire countryside and its wildlife, which reflect her love of the area and its biodiversity.
Go behind the scenes into the private parkland at Haddon Hall and follow the meandering heart of the Derbyshire River Wye as it flows through our ancient parkland. Its crystal-clear waters teem with fish, including the UK’s only population of wild rainbow trout, and attract important native species such as otters, water voles, kingfishers, ospreys, wagtails and dippers. For 2-3 hours, walking at a gentle pace with plenty of opportunities for observation and photography, Christine will escort you around the different river habitats within the Medieval Park to discover and appreciate its wildlife and ecology.
This event is suitable for everyone over the age of 18 with a reasonable level of fitness. The walk covers a distance of around 1 mile with gentle undulations.
Your ticket includes a complimentary tea, coffee or soft drink in our restaurant after the walk, as well as half-price admission to Haddon Hall and its beautiful gardens on the same day.
Sorry, tickets are non-refundable.
