We are open daily for our main 2024 season which this year runs on the following dates:

We then open on selected dates during November and December for our Mercatum Christmas Artisan Markets, and on selected dates in December for Candlelight Tours.

Access
Due to the age and nature of Haddon Hall access for visitors with restricted mobility, including wheel chair users, is very challenging with many uneven floors and steps without handrails. We wish to avoid visitors being disappointed to find that they cannot access the Hall, so if you are in any doubt please do read our more detailed Accessibility Statement or ring the Estate Office on 01629 812855 before you visit.

Car Parking (per car) – £3.80

Our car park is situated across the road from the Hall and grounds, on the opposite side of the A6.
The distance from the car park to the Hall is approximately 366 metres and includes some gravel surface and 30 steps. We ask that visitors take special care when crossing the busy A6 and note that the car park can become extremely crowded during special events, in which case, overflow parking is provided in the field beyond.
By Road – Haddon Hall is situated on the A6 between Bakewell and Rowsley, 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Bakewell. The Hall has a dedicated car park on the A6.
If using Sat Nav or other navigation software, we recommend that you input directions specifically to our car park (A6, Bakewell, DE45 1LA) to avoid you being incorrectly directed to an off-road site. Alternatively, use directions for Bakewell or Rowsley, then follow the brown tourist signs for Haddon Hall. The car park is clearly signposted from both directions.
By Train – We have excellent train links with many major UK stations via Matlock, Sheffield, Derby or Chesterfield. Bus services (see ‘Bus’ tab) from each station run directly to our driveway, or taxis to the Hall take between 30 minutes – 1 hour and cost between £30 – £50.
By Bus – Bus from Matlock Train Station
Take either the TransPeak (TP) or the 6.1 bus route from Platform 1 of the Matlock bus station, towards Buxton or Bakewell respectively. This is an hourly service during the day, with journey times between 25 – 30 minutes.
Bus from Derby Bus Station
Take the TransPeak (TP) bus route from Platform 21 of the Derby bus station towards Buxton. This is, again, an hourly service, with a journey time of just over 1 hour. Alternatively, travel by train to Matlock and follow the route above.
Bus from Bakewell Bus Station
Take either the TransPeak (TP), 6.1 or 172 services from Stand E of Bakewell bus station. Buses are regular, with a journey time of around 5 minutes or less.
Bus from Sheffield Interchange
Take the 218 Peak Line service to Bakewell from Bay D3 of Sheffield Bus Interchange, leaving every half an hour with a journey time of around an hour, then follow instructions above from Bakewell.
Bus From Chesterfield
Take the 170 bus route from Stop B12 on New Beetwell Street to Bakewell, leaving every hour with a journey time of around 45 minutes, then follow instructions above from Bakewell.

By Foot / Bicycle – There are public footpaths close to Haddon Hall, but no public footpaths run through the parkland – please check OS maps. There is a footpath along the A6 between Rowsley and Bakewell, though we would advise caution if walking or cycling, due to the busy main road. Bicycles can be left behind the Ticket Office, where we can also provide electric charging.

A variety of tours are run throughout the year, allowing you to see everything that Haddon Hall has to offer with a knowledgeable guide. We have translation leaflets on hand in a variety of different languages.
Free Guided Tours of the Highlights of the Hall – every Monday except during our Little School of Sorcery in October and our Christmas season.
If your visit is on a Monday you may wish to join one of our free, guided ‘Highlights of the Hall’ Tours, which will give you a brief introduction to the history of the Hall. These run at regular intervals throughout the day, on a first come, first serve basis and are included in your admission price.
