PROGRAMME FOR 2024

Our Learning Programme can embrace cross-curricular sessions for EYFS and KS 1-4 exploring themes of food & drink, leisure, art, music, health, work and science.

KS1-2 living history sessions are hands-on with children dressing up in period costume and experiencing life as a Tudor in our original 16th century kitchens, Medieval Chapel, Great Hall, Elizabethan Long Gallery and gardens.

KS3-4 sessions set students a series of challenges whilst investigating the Medieval and Tudor periods.

Sessions support the KS1-2 National Curriculum across History, Science, Art, English & Maths and KS3-4 across History, English & Art & Design.

Early Modern History

Use the Hall as a primary source in historic investigation, such as the Chapel for study of pre and post Reformation religious changes and see how it affected churches in practice. Explore the evolution of the Hall from the medieval to the Tudor period and discover that the Vernons and Manners were important in national life and knew significant people such as Thomas Cromwell and Mary, Queen of Scots. Search for medieval and Elizabethan graffiti and take part in a short role play, based on historical evidence.

Allow approximately 2 hours for the session.
