“If children don’t grow up knowing about nature, they won’t understand it.  And if they don’t understand it, they won’t protect it.”  Sir David Attenborough

At Haddon Medieval Park we are passionate about encouraging the next generation to appreciate and care for nature, so this year we are delighted to be offering The Little School of Ecology sessions in our beautiful, historic parkland.  Children aged between 5 – 11 yrs can enjoy the simple pleasure of being outside in nature, learning basic identification of trees, flowers, birds and insects, as well as discovering different habitats and finding out about the importance of this historic former deer park in medieval times.

Children’s admission to Haddon Hall (15 and under) is always free.  Every Tuesday we also offer free children’s tours within the Hall and archery sessions (for a small fee) within the parkland, making a great day out for the whole family.

Please note that The Little School of Ecology takes place within the unspoilt, natural landscape of the Haddon Medieval Park.  There are few paths, the terrain is uneven in places and may be wet and/or muddy.  For safety and comfort children should wear walking boots or other stout footwear and have warm, waterproof clothing available with you to wear if required on the day of your visit. Please bear in mind that we cannot guarantee good weather, nor can we guarantee what species you will see. Nature is unpredictable!  The session will go ahead unless it is deemed unsafe to proceed because of particularly heavy rain, high winds or stormy weather.
