Jane Bevan is a contemporary artist working in natural materials foraged from local woodlands and hedgerows. Using “often overlooked and trodden on” feathers, thorns, twigs, seeds and leaves, she creates intricate collages, sculptures and wall hangings with a wealth of colour, pattern and texture.
New for 2024. we are delighted to welcome Jane to Haddon Medieval Park this year for a ‘Create with Nature’ Art Workshop. This full day event will start with a short walk in the ancient private parkland that surrounds Haddon Hall to take inspiration from the landscape and to forage for materials. The day will then continue in our Tudor Stables workshop, where Jane will teach participants how to create a wide range of playful artworks, using only natural materials and simple techniques such as stitching, weaving and binding. Everyone will take home several unique artworks including collage and small sculptures.
This event is suitable for everyone over the age of 14. No previous experience or art skill is required. All tuition, materials and equipment will be provided.
Free tea and coffee making facilities are available within the workshop. Haddon Hall’s award winning restaurant, selling a wide range of snacks, drinks and main meals, is located very close by, or you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat within the workshop area.
Please note that the short walk takes place within the unspoilt, natural landscape of Haddon Medieval Park. There are few paths, the terrain is uneven in places and may be wet and/or muddy. We advise you to wear walking boots or other stout footwear for your comfort and safety. In the event of heavy rain, high winds or stormy weather, it may not be possible to complete the walk element of this event.
