Rush Matting Workshop with Felicity Irons BEM

Brand new for this year, we are delighted to welcome Felicity Irons to Haddon Hall to lead a Rush Matting Workshop. Felicity is one of the last freshwater rush cutter/weavers in England and in 2017 she was honoured with the British Empire Medal for saving the rush cutting industry and the traditional craft of rush. Felicity has worked with many leading brands, including Mulberry and Ralph Lauren, and has supplied rush matting for film and TV series.

In this full-day heritage craft workshop in our Tudor Stables Studio, Felicity will teach you how to work with this entirely natural material, plaiting, weaving and sewing, to create a small basket, bag or mat. All tuition, materials and equipment will be provided, and everyone will go home with a finished item to treasure for years.

This workshop is suitable for everyone over the age of 18. Please note that admission to Haddon Hall is not included within the price of this event.

Sorry, tickets are non-refundable.

Please note that tickets for this event have not yet been released. Please save the date and keep checking our website and social media accounts for ticket availability coming soon!
