Visit Haddon this autumn and explore the magical folklore, rituals, fears and superstitions that were an everyday part of life in the second half of the 16th century. This fascinating exhibition, inspired by the magic of Haddon itself, tells the story of everyday magic, from food folklore in the medieval kitchens and the natural wisdom of ‘cunning folk’ in the Parlour to herbology in the State Bedroom and the power of superstition in the Lower Courtyard.
Discover Haddon’s numerous apotropaic marks (or witchmarks), and curious objects hidden by past occupants of the hall to ward off harmful magic. Enjoy specially-commissioned magical objects created just for Haddon. Explore our weird and wonderful ‘Cabinet of Curiosities’, where Haddon artefacts mingle with fantastical finds.
There will be no shortage of enchanting delights. Beautiful displays, magical lighting, and atmospheric soundscapes and projections will leave every visitor spellbound.
