On our eighth day of Christmas at Haddon, 8th December, we look forward to welcoming Musicwork Vocal Ensemble, a cappella choir, who have a unique sound capable of an amazing range of volume and expression. Their Christmas repertoire ranges from old traditional songs and carols to more contemporary works.
The mixologists of the infamous Monk Buxton in Derbyshire will be teaching us how to make the perfect Christmas cocktail and we will be welcoming Dr Patrick Harding back to Haddon, author of ‘The History of Christmas.’ Harding lectures throughout the country on the subject of Christmas and we are already looking forward to his talk on Christmas, its origins, and the history of traditions that have sprung from it. The talks will be held at 11:00 and 1:30.
Alison Wake, embroidery Artist, will be demonstrating her hand-stitching technique using a variety of threads and wools. Alison will also be hosting talks throughout the day explain how she came to be a textile artist, her processes, choice of materials and inspiration for many of her pieces.
Emma Parkins, willow artist, will also be at Haddon demonstrating her beautiful craft and how to make lovely traditional decorations such as willow stars for your tree.
Alistair Farson, woodsmith, will demonstrate his wonderful way with woodcarving – you can find him in the lower courtyard.
We look forward to you joining us for this fun filled, inspiring day and hope that you will sign your name on our Christmas card to the Queen which will be found in the Long Gallery.
