Event Assistant – Autumn/Winter 2026 Season
We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable, and professional Seasonal Event Assistants to join our team for the autumn/winter season at Haddon Hall.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a prestigious festive event, our Mercatum Christmas Artisan Market, set within the historic surroundings of Haddon Hall, supporting the smooth running of the market and helping create an exceptional experience for our visitors and traders. There is also the opportunity to be involved with our Little School of Sorcery event, which is held in late October.
The Role
As an Event Assistant during Little School of Sorcery, you may be required to help with set-up before the event and assist with children’s craft activities during the event (which will require fancy dress). During Mercatum, you will play a hands-on role in supporting the event before, during and after each market day. You will work closely with the event team to ensure everything runs efficiently and professionally.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with event set-up and take-down
- Working in the car park, directing visitors
- Supporting artisans and traders
- Welcoming and assisting visitors
- Providing excellent customer service
- Assisting with queues at the ticket office
- Supporting the team with any event-related tasks throughout the day
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment (this includes emptying bins and assisting with portaloos)
- Responding professionally and positively to visitor or trader enquiries
- Helping ensure the market maintains its high standards and festive atmosphere
About You
We are looking for individuals who are:
- Friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with the public
- Reliable, punctual and professional
- Calm and capable of working effectively in a busy environment
- A strong team player who is happy to get involved wherever needed
- Practical and able to use their initiative
- Comfortable working outdoors and in changeable winter weather where required
- Available to work flexible hours, including weekends (over six weeks)
- Previous event, hospitality, retail or customer-service experience is desirable but not essential
