On our ninth day of Christmas at Haddon, 9th December, Quadravox , a vibrant quartet of three trained voices and piano will be performing in the Banqueting Hall.
Willow and Blossom, candle makers, will be welcoming our visitors to make a small soy tin candle with a chosen fragrance which will include festive scents. They will also be teaching the basics of candle making including pouring temperatures, fragrance to wax ratios and wick maintenance.
Kindred and Kind, florists, will be demonstrating at Haddon how to make beautiful Scandinavian wreaths using wild winter foliage, eucalyptus, rosemary and pine, with fir cones and seed heads. The wreaths are minimalistic and Scandinavian inspired: perfect to hang on walls and doors.
Frances Burton, Herbalist, will also be with us to show you how to make Christmas gifts, and will talk about the health and healing properties of the herbs we use, including a winter immune system boosting syrup using elderberries.
Members of the Derbyshire Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers will demonstrate ways to use wool to create lovely simple makes and if you have never tried before, you can even have a go at weaving a small decorative piece yourself.
We look forward to you joining us for this fun filled, inspiring day and hope that you will sign your name on our Christmas card to the Queen, which will be found in the Long Gallery.
