Music and Demonstrations held throughout the day
All included in your admission price
10:30 – 4:00pm
On our fifteenth day of Christmas at Haddon, 15th December, the Hall will be alive with the music from Farnaby & Co, who perform mostly a capella secular vocal music and specialise in the English Madrigal school of Elizabethan and Jacobean period, of which they have an extensive repertoire.
Mike Aspinall, the crafty Gentleman, will be demonstrating how to make lovely origami decorations, and Kindred and Kind, florists, will be demonstrating how to make beautiful Scandinavian wreaths using wild winter foliage, eucalyptus, rosemary and pine, with fir cones and seed heads. The wreaths are minimalistic and Scandinavian inspired: perfect to hang on walls and doors.
We will also have Chris and Hannah Barker of the Small Print Company, will be teaching us the art of letterpress. Following several years in the print and publishing industries, they finally purchased their first press, an Adana 8×5, and now they run a design studio in Derby, where they have expanded their services to include book making and running workshops. We are delighted to welcome Chris and Hannah to Haddon.
The chapel at Haddon is dedicated to St Nicholas and St Anne. St Nicholas is of course Father Christmas. Throughout the day, the Haddon guides will be holding special tours of the chapel, which shall include a specific emphasis on the story of St Nicholas, as illustrated in the very rare secco frescos found on the chapel walls.
We look forward to you joining us for this fun filled, inspiring day and hope that you will sign your name on our Christmas card to the Queen, which will be found in the Long Gallery.
