RESTAURANT
Our licensed restaurant, situated in the 17th century stable block, has a cosy family atmosphere. The walls are adorned with the work of local artists, depicting local scenes.

All of the paintings are available from the giftshop. The views from the restaurant are stunning, taking in the beautiful green Derbyshire countryside and the River Wye.
The restaurant is open from 11.30am - 5.00pm and our friendly staff look forward to seeing you soon.

We serve a range of homemade food, serving a range of traditional English fayre: hot and cold lunches, morning coffee and cream teas.

SCHOOLS

We welcome school visits to this perfect Tudor house, ideal for Keystage 2 studies.

Guided Tour: Haddon Hall is brought to life by our guides. Children are soon enthralled with the history of the house and the colourful characters connected with it. Tours are adapted to suit different ages, abilities and interests. Parties are divided into groups of about 20 and will be taken on a tour of the house and chapel which lasts for about 1 hour.

Arranging your visit: Please
complete the on-line booking enquiry form The Education Department will then contact you to advise whether your preferred date is available or if not, suitable alternatives.

Your visit: Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your tour. You will be met by your guide at the ticket office.
Costume Room: A costume room can be booked where the guide will give a talk illustrated with costumes. Your tour will last approximately half an hour longer. The room will seat about 20 children, and is only suitable for children between the ages of 7 and 11. We regret that we are unable to re-admit your party into the house, courtyard or garden once your tour has finished.

Teachers Familiarisation visit: We strongly recommend that teachers visit Haddon Hall prior to the schools visit. We will send you a voucher with your letter of confirmation, that admits up to two teachers to the Hall free of charge.

Picnic: On the grass areas outside the Gardener's Cottage and the Restaurant. Unfortunately due to the nature of the site, there is no sheltered area where children can eat. If it rains, your coach is probably the best place to picnic!

Parking is available in the main Car Park, on the other side of the A6 and the distance to the Hall is about 400 yards, please take great care crossing the busy road. A courtesy mini-bus is available.

Guided Tours – 7 May, 11 June, 13 August, 24 September
Take advantage of a free guided tour around Haddon Hall (usual admission charges apply). On just four days in 2008 our experienced Guides will talk and walk you through this fascinating medieval gem of a building. A definite must!

Meet the Musicmakers – 18 May
A unique show taking the visitor back to the workshops of a 16th Century instrument maker. Find out how woodwind instruments were made and played in these times. A highly entertaining show of music and a fascinating insight into the music and skills of the past.

Embroidery Display – 31 May and 1 June
A demonstration of the the work of a thriving group of local embroiderers colourfully illustrating the techniques and aspects of this ancient skill.

Tudor Cookery Weekend – 7 and 8 June
Ruth Goodman – Food Historian famous for her numerous TV appearances – most notably the Tudor Banquet filmed for the BBC at Haddon Hall. Ruth will be bringing our 14th Century kitchens alive, preparing an authentic Tudor feast to be served in our Banqueting Hall. A rare chance to see Tudor cookery at first hand!

Breast Cancer Care Walk – 21 June
For the third consecutive year, Haddon Hall is pleased to be the start and finish point for the Peak District Ribbon Walk. Drawing and Painting Days – 14 May, 18 June, 16 July, 10 September
These days will provide a unique opportunity for artists of all abilities to sit in the garden and paint or sketch within the house itself. Local artist Tim Rose will be on hand to offer handy tips and advice. Advance booking essential – limited places.

Piva – Music of the Renaissance – 14 September
This group, wearing authentic costume and inspired by the Tudor and Elizabethan period, give versatile and lively performances of popular songs of the time playing historically accurate instruments.

Tudor Craft Weekend – 20 and 21 September
Come and see Haddon Hall brought alive by the Tudor Group who bring their almost forgotten traditional ctaft skills of comb making, besom making(broomsticks), weaving, spinning and basket making. A fascinating day for all the family.

Christmas 2008 – 6 to 14 December
Haddon Hall will open its doors for the first time during the run up to Christmas and will undoubtedly be the highlight of the Haddon calendar. All of the principal rooms, inlcuding the 17th Century Long Gallery, the medieval Banqueting Hall and the atmospheric Tudor Dining Room will be decorated with natural foliage and trees from the Hadodn Estate. A spectacular magical display awaits our visitors.
