SCHOOLS
We welcome school visits to this perfect Tudor house, ideal for Keystage 2 studies. Guided Tour: Haddon Hall is brought to life by our guides. Children are soon enthralled with the history of the house and the colourful characters connected with it. Tours are adapted to suit different ages, abilities and interests. Parties are divided into groups of about 20 and will be taken on a tour of the house and chapel which lasts for about 1 hour. Arranging your visit: Please complete the on-line booking enquiry form The Education Department will then contact you to advise whether your preferred date is available or if not, suitable alternatives. Resource Pack: Free copy of resource pack on confirmation of your first booking. Your visit: Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of your tour. You will be met by your guide at the ticket office.	Costume Room: A costume room can be booked where the guide will give a talk illustrated with costumes. Your tour will last approximately half an hour longer. The room will seat about 20 children, and is only suitable for children between the ages of 7 and 11. We regret that we are unable to re-admit your party into the house, courtyard or garden once your tour has finished. Teachers Familiarisation visit: We strongly recommend that teachers visit Haddon Hall prior to the schools visit. We will send you a voucher with your letter of confirmation, that admits up to two teachers to the Hall free of charge. School Group Rate: Children £4.00 (one adult free with every 10 children) Extra adults £7.75 Costume room £20.00 (per 20 children) How to pay for your visit: No deposit is required. We will invoice your school after your visit. Picnic: On the grass areas outside the Gardener's Cottage and the Restaurant. Unfortunately due to the nature of the site, there is no sheltered area where children can eat. If it rains, your coach is probably the best place to picnic!

Parking is available free of charge for coaches (Cars: £1 per car). The car park is situated on the other side of the A6 and the distance to the Hall is about 400yards. Please take care crossing the busy road. A courtesy minibus can be arranged for the less able.

GIFT SHOP
We sell a range of lovely gifts and souvenirs in our Gatehouse gift shop. Gifts include items by local artists and craftspeople made exclusively for Haddon Hall as well as books that relate to the history of the Hall and the interests of our visitors. We stock Traditional Tapestries’ beautiful cushions, bags, table runners, wall plaques and tapestries. Our gifts reflect the seasons, with items to enhance the house and garden in the summer months and Christmas gifts and decorations in December.	The Tudor theme runs through our range of books and music CDs and we also stock DVDs of films that have been made at Haddon Hall where available. Our souvenirs range from china thimbles and mugs through to tea towels local honey, chocolate bars and postcards. We also have good quality inexpensive children’s gifts suitable for school groups and young families. Our beautifully illustrated 70 page Guide Book is available by post at £5 + £2 postage (UK). RESTAURANT

Our licensed Restaurant is situated in the 17th Century stable block, with views over the River Wye. There is no admission charge for those wishing to visit the Restaurant only. A warm welcome is offered to all, including walkers.

Our chef prepares food daily and where possible uses locally sourced produce.

The Restaurant is open from 11.15am every day that Haddon Hall is open. Arrive early to experience fresh baked scones straight from the oven. Throughout the day a selection of hot and cold meals, snacks and sandwiches is served. Not forgetting a mouth-watering selection of homemade cakes including a gluten free range.

The Restaurant is available for private functions, outside normal opening times.

SPECIAL EVENTS 2009

Guided Tours – 6th April, 6th May, 10th June, 15th July
Take advantage of a free guided tour around Haddon Hall (usual admission charges apply). On just four days in 2009 our experienced Guides will talk and walk you through this fascinating medieval gem of a building. A definite must!

Tudor Cookery Weekend – 25th & 26th April
The Tudor Group - famous for their numerous TV appearances will bring our 14th century kitchens alive preparing an authentic Tudor feast to be served in our Banqueting Hall. Also featuring in the group is Ruth Goodman, food historian, who currently has a leading role in the BBC program A Victorian Farm. This is a rare opportunity to see Tudor cookery at first hand!

Piva – Music of the Renaissance – 10th May
This group, wearing authentic costume and inspired by the Tudor and Elizabethan period, give versatile and lively performances of popular songs of the time playing historically accurate instruments.

Music from the time of Henry VIII with Peter Bull - 7th June
Solo performances by this amazingly versatile musician playing music of the period on a variety of authentic instruments.

Drawing and Painting Days – 17th June, 15th July
These days will provide a unique opportunity for artists of all abilities to sit in the garden and paint or sketch within the house itself. Local artist Tim Rose will be on hand to offer handy tips and advice. Advance booking essential – limited places.

In My Lord and Lady's Chamber - 20th & 21st June
The Tudor Group will be providing a rare and fascinating insight into the toilette/dressing arrangements of a 'Lords and Lady of the Manor' during the 16th century. Highlighted will be the duties of the personal servants of the period and will include such things as make-up, hygiene, underwear and laundry. Featured in the group will be Ruth Goodman who currently has a leading role in the BBC program A Victorian Farm.

Music from the time of Elizabeth 1st with Peter Bull - 23rd August
Back by popular demand! Solo performances by this talented musician playing music of the period on a variety of authentic instruments.

Meet the Musicmakers – 6th September
A unique show taking the visitor back to the workshops of a 16th Century instrument maker. Find out how woodwind instruments were made and played in these times. A highly entertaining show of music and a fascinating insight into the music and skills of the past.

Tudor Craft Weekend – 12th & 13th September
Come and see Haddon Hall brought alive by the Tudor Group who bring their almost forgotten traditional craft skills of comb making, besom making(broomsticks), weaving, spinning and basket making. A fascinating day for all the family.

Christmas 2008 – 5th to 13th December inclusive
10.30am – 4pm (last entry 3.30pm)
Following the enormous success of our first opening in 2008, Haddon opens again for the run up to Christmas and will undoubtedly be the highlight of the Haddon calendar. All of the principal rooms including the 17th century Long Gallery, the medieval Banqueting Hall and the atmospheric Tudor Dining Room will be decorated with the natural foliage and trees from the Haddon Estate. A spectacular magical display awaits our visitors.
